ABOUT US
Raising kids is hard. We want to help.

Anchor ABA was created to help children and their families find success through the daily routines of life, learn new skills, and celebrate their individualities with the love and support of their families. We want our clients with different abilities to learn, grow, and succeed - in their own way and at their own pace - and we will be here to support them.

Parents and caregivers are the MVPs. We seek to empower YOU!

We'll work on goals and skills that are important to your child and family in ways that are simple, clear, concise, and can be easily carried over by parents and caregivers in everyday life.

We don't just look at behaviors. We choose to see the whole child.

We know that ABA is just one piece of the puzzle when it comes to helping your child. Our team is constantly researching and reading about topics outside of traditional ABA teachings in order to understand and carryover any suggestions from your child's other therapists and provide a cohesive approach. We love attending therapy appointments and IEP meetings when able to help families incorporate suggestions and recommendations into the home environment and facilitate overall success among the child's various environments.

We serve the Hampton Roads area of Virginia.

We are based in Virginia Beach but we also serve families in Norfolk, Chesapeake, and Portsmouth.
OUR TEAM
Anchor ABA therapists will be your allies.
We love figuring out how each child learns best and we look forward to the opportunity to help you work through challenging behaviors using a "whole child" approach.
WHAT TO EXPECT
1 INTAKE PROCESS
To begin the intake process, call or email us and ensure your child has an active referral from his or pediatrician for ABA therapy. At that time, we can confirm your funding source (insurance or self-pay) and provide you with information regarding therapy availability.

We currently have contracts with TRICARE, Sentara Health, and some VA Medicaid plans.
2 EVALUATION
We will contact you directly to schedule your child's evaluation. At that time, you'll receive a Case History and Parent Questionnaire to be completed prior the evaluation date. We will also work directly with your insurance company to confirm that they have authorized the evaluation.

During the evaluation, we will chat with you and play with your child. Yes, we have to complete some formal measures and checklists but all in all, we just need to learn a little about your child. We'll talk to you about specific concerns that are making life a little more difficult and make a plan for how we're going to teach new skills along the way to maximize your child's success.
3 TREATMENT SESSIONS & PARENT TRAINING
Therapy begins shortly after the evaluation is completed. Therapy sessions can take place at your home, in the community, or at daycare/private school and will address the skills that are the most important and behaviors that are most disruptive or interfere with your child's individual success and independence. Our sessions are play-based and work around your family's daily activities. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to be a part of the sessions to ensure carryover of skills and techniques. You are the one with your child the most and we want to make sure you feel empowered to continue progress even after we leave for the day.
4 WHAT IS ABA?
ABA therapy sessions meet your child where they are. We'll break down each skill into baby steps and celebrate every achievement along the way. Some of our clients work on basic communication skills or following simple directions while others may have difficulty tolerating changes to their routine but are ready for more advanced skills.
Maybe you just need to get through the grocery store without leaving your cart in the center aisle. We're here to help!
